What's It Really Worth? The Role of the Appraisal

Renée Vara is a seasoned lecturer and professor of art and visual culture with over 20 years of educational experience in museum studies, appraising and curating, specializing in the field of 20th century art and design. She has been an Adjunct Professor at NYU for over a decade and in 2010 received NYU's Excellence in Teaching Award. She is also a faculty member at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. In addition, she has lectured internationally at venues such as the Guggenheim Museum, Freeman’s Auction House, UBS, Chubb Insurance, AXA Art, and Phillips de Pury.

Renée holds corporate seminars and lectures on collecting, contemporary art and the art market. She also organizes private and group tours to the top fairs, galleries, and museums around the world. Each tour considers the audience’s depth of knowledge and specific interests, including care and conservation of collections, art as tangible asset, art market trends and collection planning.
